The winning answer was "melted mint chocolate chip ice cream." The thing photographed was the dregs of a quart of Baskin Robbins Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream, my favorite flavor in the whole wide world. Clearly, my camera is not giving perfect color fidelity because the non-winning answers included:
-- "Lard with olive tapenade" (my personal favorite)
-- "Buttercream frosting with cherries"
-- "Red velvet cake with creamcheese frosting"
-- "mint ice cream with red beans" (so close!)
-- "crisco with smooshed up red peppers"

oh man, i was so thrown off by the color of the chocolate chips! and i can taste those mixed-berry preserves already... oh, lucky, lucky 'ek'! (might that be my coz ellen?)
She doesn't read my blog! Maybe it's my other cousin Eugene. I will do some investigation.
