Day 42: Weekend Report
It's Thursday but I haven't been able to post photos from the past weekend so I'm going to travel back in time for a moment. Actually, all the pictures are from Saturday's trip to the Green City Market, near the Lincoln Park Zoo. From left to right: The first picture is of a cheese from Wisconsin called Brun-uusto. The Husband asked the booth guy about the cheese and found out that it's an extremely low-moisture cheese which allows it to be grilled, as in the next photo, without melting. It's very YUMMY. We bought some and made similar looking snacks in the toaster oven. The picture with the jars is of the Tomato Mountain table of goodies -- our favorite fruit preserves in all the world is its strawberry-raspberry jam, notable because it uses "as little sugar as necessary" says Chris Covelli, the co-owner of the business who is also a nut for hot peppers. This stuff is pure heaven: great on toast but also a perfect complement to plain yogurt (throw away those terrible fruited yogurts!) and on ice cream with salted peanuts. The last photo is of our dinner that followed: grilled shrimp, blanched green beans, and those amazing oven-roasted potatoes! I promise to post the recipe in the next five days. I promise!
