Day 32: Yummy Yucky, The Book

In case you were wondering where I got the name for this blog, behold, my inspiration. It's a book that I bought for a friend who recently had a baby. We were over at her house for dinner one night and her husband, Pete, told us that of the three books we gave them "Yummy Yucky" was far and away Millie's favorite. (I first encountered the book at my friend Hie Jung's house, and thought it was really cute and funny. It's about comparing things that are food versus things that only seem like food. For example, "Eggs are yummy. Earwax is yucky." Useful book!) A couple months later, I was visiting the new blog of my friend Beth, my blogging mentor, when the book's title popped into my head (surf over yourself and get inspired; find it here). Around this time, I was also thinking that it was time to start a personal blog, just for practice, and I had the vague notion that it would be a good idea to do an online thing that was basically a menu diary of all the food The Husband -- and I, occasionally -- make for the kids. I can't tell you how many times he and I look at each other and say, "What should we make for dinner?" If only we could refer back to a diary for ideas! In short, all the pieces fell into place and Yummy or Yucky, The Blog, was born.
